Things to Learn from Comedians

. How often do you see comedians using a lectern? That’s right—never! A lectern serves no other purpose than to hide a speaker’s fidgety hands from the audience. The lectern is nothing but a big fat crutch. Avoid it like the plague, unless you use it as a prop.

. When was the last time you saw a comedian pull out a notecard to see what their next joke was? A great speech is a prepared speech. Comedians practice their routines over and over, and you must do the same. You can use different mnemonic memory techniques to remember even the most complex speeches. Remember, if you take your eyes off of your audience, they will take their eyes off you. And that creates a disastrous speaking situation.

. Comedians often open up their acts by sharing a humbling or even humiliating story. Not only is it funny, but it shows the audience that they are just a regular Joe. And regular Joes get support from the audience.

. Just because comedians are master public speakers doesn’t mean you need to be a comedian to kill on stage. You aren’t even required to tell jokes. Start to observe the techniques comedians use, and employ them in your own presentations.

Do Adults Also Needs Vaccinations

Medical science is creating an increasing number of immunizations targeted at adults which will help them avoid life threatening diseases in middle age as well as opportunistic infections when get older. Some of the adult vaccinations are very well known which also includes the annual shot that aims to prevent the spread of influenza and newer vaccines are targeted toward specific age groups which can make it more difficult to figure out which shots are needed. An increasing number of vaccines either target the senior citizens specifically or are highly recommended for them because these immunizations give the immune system an extra boost when most needed.

Some of the other vaccinations which are recommended for the seniors include:

  • A second dose of the measles or mumps or rubella vaccination
  • Influenza vaccine
  • A tetanus or diphtheria booster
  • A pneumococcal vaccination

People at increased risk for certain diseases either because of work, illness or lifestylealso might require vaccination as an adult but pregnant women are not recommended to get most of the vaccinations. Some of the health care workers also need to receive a wide variety of vaccinations which includes hepatitis A and B shots, tetanus or diphtheria and measles or mumps or rubella.

Comedy Writing Tips by Some Finest Comedians

Randall redd nj

. Become a ruthless editor of your own stuff. You have to be brutal.

. Learn to be concise. Pay attention to the rhythm of a sentence and how a joke unfolds. Just moving an adverb can change it. I’m still learning.

. Make sure you invest in a character. Anyone can write jokes. Well, almost anyone. But if you are writing a sitcom it’s the characters that make it interesting. They have to resonate.

. A writer will soon discover we don’t actually write.

. Shit. Whatever I write needs to be funny.

. Applying the rule of three doesn’t necessarily make it funny.

. Write often and write lots. Eventually, or at least hopefully, the rubbish will lessen and the gold will increase. Use language deliberately, and I don’t mean punctuation by swearing. Details can be so important. If you’re writing a joke about a car what type of car is it? Does it help to mention the colour?

. Try to be as lean as possible. Come in late, and go out early. More often than not, you can lose half of a scene quite easily and still impart the story.

The only advice I can give any comedian is this – just write.

Do the work.

Stand Up Comedy By Randall Redd NJ

June-Comedy-Tour-24-013-e1414617381532-1024x890

Comedy especially the stand up is widely regarded as the most difficult gig in the show business and the successful product innovation is so much difficult, it could be regarded as the standup comedy of the business world. Innovation such as comedy is a very messy, often a counter intuitive business and it is an iterative loop of creation, feedback, revision, rejection and creation again.

  • Know the audience and then ignore their advice: The customer is rarely right when it comes to an innovation and they are rarely right about what they want next. Businesses run on the process and the traditional market research process of the concept testing is indeed an efficient process.
  • Data does not replace insight: Do not just collect the data about the audience but study them also and data does not tell the comedians what to do but the insight does and the insight is the responsibility of the innovator not the audience.
  • Keep it fresh: Comedians ca not rely on the same routine for very long and no matter how successful it is and the same can be said for the successful brands.
  • Develop your own point of view: Late night television talk show hosts all have the same daily news to work with yet they each put their own spin on it.
